Great Basin National Park
Nevada, United States

About
Designated as a National Park in 1986
Based around Nevada's second tallest mountain, Wheeler Peak, Great Basin National Park contains 5,000-year-old bristlecone pines, a rock glacier, and the limestone Lehman Caves. Due to its remote location, the park has some of the country's darkest night skies. Wildlife includes the Townsend's big-eared bat, pronghorn, and Bonneville cutthroat trout.

Lexington Arch is one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever enjoyed. I have hiked all over the world but Great Basin is a treasure that is not crowded in the way many other areas are. The desert landscape, views and wildflowers are spectacular.
Me and my mother drove out here on a Sunday. It made a nice day trip, however there isn’t much to see. We spent only an hour or so here. If you have the time to drive out on a lazy day or just want to visit all the national parks than it is a nice one.
Clear skies, colorful aspens, beautiful mountains. Very few people. Amazing!

While I haven't been to Great Basin National Park yet in person, I did get this nice photo on a flight from San Francisco to Denver last year. I hope to visit someday.

Park was beautiful and hikes were amazing. Took the Alpine loop trail and hiked up to Stella Lake and Theresa Lake. The view was very nice but I wish the lake wasn’t all dried up. Will probably have to come a different season to see the lakes again.

Absolutely Beautiful!! Great trails, people are nice, I would recommend it for at least a weekend. Amazing view of the the Stars when the moon is not out. (Dark Sky)Would also recommend very strongly to come early to get a spot as they fill quickly!

Really great views. A couple of the roads were closed which made the trails pretty inaccessible. But really cool location.

What can I say about Great Basin National Park? My family absolutely loved it. We took our Lexus on a trip through Great Basin National Park and my family had a great time. This was one of their favorite trips. We had an amazing picnic in the park. It was great. I loved spending the precious times with my kids and my elderly mother. I can't wait until we go on another adventure.

We come here once a year and love the cool temperatures and beautiful scenery. There are some great trail hikes available and plenty of wildlife to see along the way. The new bathrooms made things much more comfortable for the younger kids this trip compared to the last couple.
